Community Guidelines

Working draft · Last updated July 16, 2026

This is a plain-language draft that reflects how SceneCheck works today. The final, legally reviewed version is being prepared with counsel before launch. Where this draft and the final version differ, the final version will govern from its stated effective date once it is published.

SceneCheck exists so people in kink and play communities can vet each other honestly. These guidelines describe what we expect from you, what is never allowed, and what actually happens when a rule is broken.

Who this is for

SceneCheck is for adults. You must be at least 18, and of legal age in your jurisdiction. It is built for consent-centered kink and play communities, so sexual language between adults is expected here and is not a violation. These guidelines protect consent, honesty, and privacy.

What we expect

  • Give feedback honestly. Trust scores only work if reviews reflect what actually happened. Coordinated or retaliatory feedback is detected and can lead to removal.
  • Respect consent, in your scenes and on the platform.
  • Respect privacy. Do not try to identify anonymous reviewers, and do not share what someone disclosed to you here.
  • Use reports for safety, not for retaliation. False reports may result in review of your own account.

What is never allowed

Some content is rejected automatically and records a strike, with no warning step:

  • Any sexual content involving minors.
  • Hate speech, and threats motivated by hate.
  • Threatening harassment and threats of violence.
  • Graphic violence.

Some behavior is grounds for reports and removal even when no automated filter catches it:

  • Consent and boundary violations.
  • Outing, doxxing, stalking, and blackmail. Threatening to reveal someone's identity, kinks, or health status is treated as an urgent threat.
  • Harassment and impersonation.

How enforcement works

Free text you submit, such as your display name, profile fields, vouches, and applications, is screened automatically before it is saved. The screening looks for hate, threats, graphic violence, and sexual content involving minors. It does not flag sexual language between adults.

  • Content in the never-allowed categories is rejected and records a strike. Strike weight depends on how severe the content is and on your standing in the community.
  • Lesser flags, such as harassment, violent language, or self-harm content, are a soft rejection. You must revise the text before it will save. No strike is recorded.
  • Strikes accumulate. Enough of them triggers a 24 hour lockout, then a 72 hour lockout, then a permanent ban. A lockout signs you out of the app until it expires.
  • If the screening service is unavailable, your submission is rejected rather than let unscreened content through. You can try again later.

Automated screening is a filter, not a judge. Reports, suspensions, and appeals are reviewed by people, and admin actions are recorded in an audit log that cannot be edited.

Reporting and blocking

  • You can report anyone you have shared a confirmed scene with, from their profile in the app. Reports are anonymous. Your identity is not shared with the person you report.
  • Reports are reviewed by the trust and safety team. The review target is 72 hours, and overdue reports are flagged internally. Review is human, so it is not instant.
  • Urgent threats, such as outing, stalking, blackmail, doxxing, or threats of physical harm, have a dedicated crisis path. It does not require a shared scene and is reviewed with priority.
  • You can block anyone at any time. Blocking prevents pairing with them through every method.
  • Report descriptions are deliberately not run through the automated filter, so you can quote exactly what was said to you.

SceneCheck is not an emergency service. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.

Appeals

Every suspension can be appealed from inside the app. An appeal goes to the trust and safety team, is reviewed by a person, and the decision is recorded. You can have one open appeal at a time. If the appeal is approved, the suspension is lifted. Timed lockouts also expire on their own.

Changes to these rules

This is a working draft, and it will change as the product does. The date at the top changes whenever the content does. Enforcement follows what is written here, not an unwritten version.
